Network Engineer ('NE')
Ripplecom is focused on the delivery of broadband connectivity to Rural, Urban and Semi-Urban Ireland using fixed wireless radio as a last mile access mechanism.
The Company's core focus is to provide broadband connectivity to Residential, SOHO, SME and Corporate customers within an ever expanding footprint and will continue to work with communities, Local authorities and Enterprise to deliver a sustainable broadband service. Currently serving customers in 21 counties, the company aims to be fully nationwide in the shortest possible time frame.
Ripplecom is in existence for just over 2 years and is one of the nations fastest growing technological companies as evidenced by our inclusion in the Deloitte fast 50 list of fastest growing technical organisations. We are now looking for a Netork Engineer to join our expanding team.
Function: The Ripplecom Network Engineering team proactively manages and supports the access, backhaul and core network as well as providing technical assistance to other internal business units.
The NE role includes maintenance, design and R&D when applicable. Ripplecom is a flexible organisation where all employees are encouraged to submit ideas and to contribute on an ongoing basis. Therefore this role will suit a motivated self starter with a willingness to learn and an interest in instructing other team members.
Duties/Responsibilities: As part of Ripplecom engineering provide technical support for the networking and radio elements of the network:
- Provide a high level of technical knowledge and troubleshooting skills.
- Provide timely problem solving while working to a tight deadline.
- Interface and support Field Technicians when necessary.
- Interface with the senior network engineering team to escalate tickets according to escalation guidelines.
- Management of Engineering Maintenance tickets.
Skills/Experience: Knowledge of data communications particularly in the following areas:
- Broadband communications.
- Microwave radio communications:
- WiFi.
- WiMAX.
- IP Telephony (VoIP).
- Ability to logically troubleshoot critical network issues.
- Excellent interpersonal skills needed to interact with others in person and in writing.
Education: Meet the requirements of Engineers Ireland for registration as an Associate Engineer (AEng) or the Engineering Council UK as an Incorporated Engineer (IEng) with a NFQ Level 7 ordinary degree in one of the following disciplines:
- Telecommunications.
- Computer Networking.
- Computer Programming.
- Electronics.
- Computer Science.
